T SHIRT DESIGNER: Devin Binford (left), this year’s PTO Pancake T shirt designer, gets help with the silk-screen shirt press from Graphic Arts instructor, Mike Ondash (right)
Congratulations to Devin Binford, a 12th grader at Hudson High School, and this year’s designer of the commemorative, limited-edition PTO Pancake Breakfast T-shirt! Devin is an independent study student under Mike Ondash in the area of Graphic Design. Mr. Ondash stated, “I like to assign projects like these to my independent study students because it gives them a chance to design for, and work with people in the community. It’s a great way to involve the community and schools together on a project”. Devin said the intent for his design was to, “create something that was instantly recognizable and relatable, yet had a clean and simple look to it.”
POSTER WINNER: Graphic Arts instructor, Mike Ondash (left) helps poster design winner, Francesca Bankovich (right) put up the first Pancake Breakfast poster at the High School.
This year’s winning design was created byFrancesca Bankovich, a senior at Hudson High School. Francesca’s design was created in hopes of designing a poster that is visually appealing to people beyond the Graphic Arts room. This experience was both motivational and encouraging for Francesca. Mr. Ondash, Graphic Arts-3 teacher at HHS, explains, “Using real projects with the students gives them a much better “real world” experience. It gives the students a chance to apply what they’ve learned in class to a project that will be displayed around the community.
